Christmas corners

 Hello everybody!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! 馃檲馃檳馃檴

One of the most special times of the year is coming soon! And the heroes of this moment are, for sure, the children. The students of Initial Cycle from the school Pompeu Fabra, they are getting ready for the celebration, and they are learning a lot of vocabulary and structures to get themselves understand in English.

On the one hand, we are practicing the English songs for the concert that will happen on the last days of school. You will see them singing the songs soon!

On the other hand, we are doing some corners in where we are learning different skills. They are playing board games such as bingo, memory or doubles, in which they are using their reading and speaking skills. In addition, they are also learning how to build a Christmas tree, learning how to read the story and copying the information into images and letters. Moreover, they are writing some vocabulary used in the classes before to start doing this process slowly with a real sense for them.

Last but not least, they have watched the story of the ginger bread man in the class some days ago, and they are doing a craft about the special cookie that we will hand around the English class walls. They will also use some of the structures of the story when we practice it, you will see pictures soon!

practicing the wh-questions

 Good morning families! One of the content we learnt during the second term with the 6th graders is the WH-questions . They were practicing some of them (what, when, where, how often, why). Here you have the final video to watch it. Take a look, they've improved it! 馃槉 We also added some pictures from an activity we did about biographies of female artists, taking advantage of the women's day (8M), and the topic of the school (the art). You also can see some pictures from a running dictation we did weeks ago in a sharing to learn session.

Superior Cycle (Sharing to Learn)

Hello family and friends from Pompeu Fabra! How has the year started? 馃槉 From January, at school, we have been joining lots of new projects, and specially, today we will talk about the Sharing to Learn in Superior Cycle. This term, we have introduced the idea of the " English corners " in which students can practice their language skills at the same time than having a proper time to speak with their Language Assistants.  On the one hand, the 6th graders, they have improved the skills doing the Basic Competence exams (reading and writing) in some of these corners, they have started to learn the WH-questions and the jobs and professions vocabulary. They had some time with their LA to practice, at the same time than playing and having some fun.  On the other hand, the 5th graders, they have been learning some grammar about present simple tense and practicing vocabulary about free time activities. WE ARE JOURNALISTS!

  Hello families from Pompeu Fabra! We are excited to explain you what we have done during the English classes the last weeks. The 5th graders, we recorded some videos explaining which free time activities we like doing. We have been working around the topic "we are journalists", so we have asked our classmates the questions. It was much fun. Firstly, we learnt the vocabulary (actions and verbs), and then, we studied the Present Simple and Continuous to be able to ask the questions.
